ELITE DataSystems Software Migration
How to migrate your EDS Installation.
This migration includes but is not limited to:
- Upgrading your Windows Operating System.
- Moving your EDS installation to a new machine.
- Upgrading your EDS installation from 1.02.xx to 3X.
- Upgrading your EDS installation from 3.X to 3.X.
Before you begin:
- Supported Operating Systems:
Windows Server 2012 R2/Windows 8.1 and lower are NOT supported by Elite Data Systems 3X. We recommend running EDS on one of the following Microsoft operating systems:
- Windows 10 Professional/Enterprise
- Windows 11 Professional/Enterprise
- Windows Server 2016 Essentials/Standard/Datacenter
- Windows Server 2019 Essentials/Standard/Datacenter
- Windows Server 2022 Essentials/Standard/Datacenter
- EDS Configuration Settings
- Enterprise Key (If applicable)
- SQL Credentials (If applicable)
- Mail Server Settings
- EDS 3X Software
Copying EDS Config File
IMPORTANT – If upgrading from EDS 1.2.xx to EDS 3X these files are not compatible. You will need to record your EDS Configuration Settings.
EDS creates a config file that saves your EDS settings. Making a copy of this file will make your new install easier.
Migrating your config file.
- Locate your config file
- EDS version 1.02.06
- C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Botron_Co_Inc
- Filename – AppData.xml
- EDS version 3X
- C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Botron
- Filename – EDSconfig.xml
- EDS version 1.02.06
- Copy your config file to a safe place where it will not be overwritten. And, is accessible after migration.
Data Migration
If using SQL Database you will only need to know your SQL credentials.
- Locating your Access Database file
- EDS v1.02.xx
- C:\Program Files (x86)\ELITE Tester Software\Data
- Filename – ELITE_DBv2.mdb
- EDS 3X v3.1.xx
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Botron Co. Inc\Elite Data System\Data
- Filename – ELITE_DBv2.mdb
- EDS v1.02.xx
- Copy the database file to a safe place where it will not be overwritten. And, is accessible after migration.
Optionally you want to keep your “data_raw” folder. The best way to do this is copy the entire folder, or compress the “data_raw” folder. This process could take a long time, depending on the number of files inside.
EDS Installation
IMPORTANT – Uninstall the previous EDS installation before you continue.
Once your new Windows environment is up and running, please ensure you are logged into the Administrator account that will be running EDS. You may begin with installing ELITE DataSystems.
- For more information on how to install EDS, see How to Install EDS 3X
Completing Your Migration
Your new installation will have a similar folder structure. Please move the necessary files into their new directory folders and launch EDS to ensure all of your data is intact.
- Database File
- ELITE_DBv2.mdb
- Config File
- AppData.xml
- EDSconfig.xml
Installation Troubleshooting:
- Ensure additional LSA protection is not running on the same machine as EDS – the application is not signed and will not function properly if additional LSA protection is enabled.
