How to Install EDS 3X

This document will cover installing ELITE DataSystems (EDS) for ELITE ESD Test System and the Sentinel Continuous Monitor System.

This installation includes but is not limited to:

• Installing EDS 3X in a Windows environment
• Installing an EDS 3X Enterprise License Key

System Requirements:

• Supported Operating Systems:
  • Windows Server 2012 R2/Windows 8.1 and lower are NOT supported by Elite Data Systems 3X. We recommend running EDS on one of the following Microsoft operating systems:
    • Windows 10 Professional/Enterprise
    • Windows 11 Professional/Enterprise
    • Windows Server 2016 Essentials/Standard/Datacenter
    • Windows Server 2019 Essentials/Standard/Datacenter
    • Windows Server 2022 Essentials/Standard/Datacenter

• Ensure the Windows environment meets the following requirements:
  • 4x CPU Threads
  • 4GB RAM
  • 120GB Storage (SSD/NVMe Recommended)

Before You Begin:

Please have the following items available:

• IMPORTANT – A Windows user account with local Administrator rights
• EDS 3X Software Download
• Microsoft Excel (If applicable)
• Enterprise Key (If applicable)
• SQL Credentials (If applicable)
• Mail Server Settings (If applicable)

Configuring Your Network

If you are networking your Elites across VLANs or different subnets you may need to open the following ports on your router/appliance:

• Port 9760 TCP
• Port 80 TCP
• Port 30303 UDP

NOTE: Anti-Virus/Cyber Security software running on your host device or network can cause issues with communication between the ELITE and EDS. The ELITE expects to receive messages in a timely manor, thus threat monitoring on the network can severely impact the timing of those messages and terminate the communications.

Installing EDS 3X

IMPORTANT – This application may not install correctly without Administrator privileges.

If installing on a Server or Virtual Machine (VM), copy the EDS 3X install files to the machine.

1. Login to your PC, Server or VM using the local Administrator account
2. Locate and open (double click) the EDS 3X Installation file
3. Click Next through the ELITE DataSystems Install Wizard
4. Select the install directory. It’s recommended to keep the default installation directory – click Next
5. Confirm the installation and click Next. A Windows prompt may appear asking if you would like this app to make changes to your device – click Yes
6. Once completed, click Close

Administrator Rights Setup (Basic/Enterprise)

IMPORTANT – This application will not run correctly without Administrator rights being enabled in the shortcut’s configuration.

1. On Windows Desktop > right click the “Botron EDS shortcut” > select Properties
2. Navigate to the “Compatibility” tab
3. Check the box labeled “Run this program as an administrator”
4. Click “Apply” Then “OK”
